Although the Chief Instructor of the ITKO would prefer to remain humble and silent in the shadows, I feel that is appropriate that he be formally acknowledged for his most recent achievement.

The weekend of 12/08/07, Sensei Brian Evans made the journey to the WTKO Hombu Dojo in New York City. After training on his own on Saturday, Sensei Evans attended WTKO Instructor Training and Dan Testing on Sunday. Those presiding on his test panel were John Mullin WTKO Executive Director, Fred Serricchio WTKO Chairman, Richard Amos WTKO Chief Instructor, and Eiji Maeda WTKO Assistant Chief Instructor.

After a test series of Kata, Kumite, and a question and answer session, a unanimous decision was made to promote Sensei Evans to 6th Dan (Rokudan). The presentation of his certificate and congratulations by the test panel and fellow karate-ka followed. Sensei Evans, who is already a member of the prestigious International Shotokan-ryu Karate-do Shihankai has submitted his paperwork to be recognized for his newly awarded rank.

On a routine basis, Sensei Evans consistently shares his knowledge, wisdom, leadership, and training time with many karate-ka with little or no recognition or financial gain. While this is a personal achievement for Sensei Evans, many will continue to prosper from his continued contributions to the proliferation of Shotokan Karate-do here in the Midwest. His students, instructors, and their families wish to extend congratulations to Sensei Evans on this monumental achievement!

Respectfully submitted,

Phillip A. Thompson, Yondan
