March 2004. Cheryl and I took a trip back home to see the family. I also took the opportunity to train at my old club in Milton Keynes with sensei's Lawrence Elcock and Brian Owen. I hadn't been home in two years so there was a lot of catching up to do as well.

Me and Cheryl had an almost 30 hour journey from leaving Springfield, getting to Chicago, flying over, getting to Milton Keynes, unpacking and then going training. I think I held up slightly better than Cheryl.
I did a lot of kata work while there and used the time to catch up on Gojushisho, Nijushiho and a couple of others.

I picked up a blister the size of a small car, but couldn't be more pleased with it. I trained with Brian Owen my old instructor too while I was there and all went out for a curry on the Friday before I left.
I miss training at home and hopefully I'll go back again soon, time and cash permitting. In the meantime, Tim Jones who was one of the guys who I came through the ranks with is coming to Springfield in July for a holiday and to help out at the club, it will be nice to give the students a fresh perspective on training - No such thing as a free lunch!

At the end of the lesson and we had all the group photos, I gave Lawrence and Brian both a plaque with a message of thanks and a Pawnee Shotokan polo shirt for helping me out with the katas. He looks genuinely surprised!
