SIU Edwardsville was the venue for the annual Prairie State Games. Various styles were present including: Kifaru Jitsu, Iado, Taekwon Do, Isshin Ryu, Shotokan, Kung Fu, Goju Ryu, Shudo Kan/Shito Ryu, and Kempo.
Once again we had a good haul of the medals even for so few of us taking part.
The total was: 4 Gold, 3 Silver and 3 Bronze.

They were divided up between, team kata, kumite, weapons, junior kata and senior kata.
Hopefully next we will have a few more competitors from our club.
Highlight for me personally was watching the young girl Jade Pflug with the nunchakus.

Kanku Dai. As he was walking up to do his kata, he still hadn't decided on what kata to perform .. jion ..kanku dai...jion..kanku dai, etc etc, In the end, Kanku dai by a nose.
The name of this young lady is Jade Pflug, she was brilliant, not because of her technique, but her determination. Just look at the picture, the flails are almost as big as her. Nice loud Kiai too. One of the Iiado competitors, Alberto Friedmann is also a Taekwondo 3rd dan. A nice guy too. He took 1st in the weapons, and I think first in his kata division too.
Drew, Dylan and C.J. with their medals for the team kata event. Group hugs with Sensei Thompson, C.J. and Katie.
Line up for the group picture at the end of the day. Nice day, nice people and no attitudes. Dylan, Drew and C.J share something with one of the other competitors. She did a kama kata which was fairly impressive too.
