Pawnee Shotokan Instructors - Steve Harvey 3rd Dan
Born in Islington, London. Started karate at the CMK Shotokan Club when he moved to Milton Keynes in 1998 under Senseis Lawrence Elcock and Brian Owen. He has studied other styles including Wado-Ryu, Kyokushinkai, Shukokai and Jiu-Jitsu.
He moved to Springfield, Illinois in October 2001 to get married to Cheryl, and started training at The Shotokan Karate Club of Pawnee in Nov 2001. He is also Co-advisor for the ITKO and also the Media Coordinator and is an Official Instructor for the ITKO.
Steve works for SIU School of Medicine in Springfield where he is a graphic artist and web designer for the department of surgery (which is handy). He does all the graphics and website stuff for the club as well as run the monday evening class.
He has attended many seminars both in the UK and in the US with some of the top instructors in the karate world including; Senseis Ronnie Christopher, Malcolm Phipps, & Sean Roberts (Shotokan), Paul Coleman (Goju-ryu), Tatsuo Suzuki and Fumio Sagusawa (Wado-ryu), John Mullin and Richard Amos (Shotokan), Akio Minakami (Shito-ryu), and Bill (Superfoot) Wallace.
Other Interests
In his "spare time" he likes to paint and draw, watch movies, read, cook, crosswords, learn more about karate, play X box, watch his beloved Arsenal FC on the FOX Soccer Channel, design websites and about a million other things.
